WHO IS PSYCHOFARM?

Hi.

I'm the creator of PsychoFarm.

You can call me Greg, Dr. M, Farmer Greg, or whatever you like (within reason). 

I'm a psychiatrist in private practice based out of Brooklyn, New York

I also work at a hospital part-time, but it feels like selling my soul when I do, so I only do so infrequently.

In training, I was really frustrated with the educational resources available. Psychiatric information felt like arcane knowledge reserved only for those who could find a decent mentor.

I found a lot of lecturers used big fluffy words that made them look really smart, but made the information incomprehensible. And even more "educators" just read straight from the DSM, which made the information feel disconnected from the human beings I was treating.

When I got far enough to realize the information wasn't nearly as spooky as it seemed, I started making videos in the hopes of making psychiatric education accessible and human. I now understand why others haven't done it: from an opportunity cost perspective, this endeavor has been an absolute train wreck.

I kept my identity private for a long time, but my girlfriend said I should include my bio otherwise people won't trust the information. I find that vain, but I don't want her to be mad at me. I studied chemistry in college, I got an MD against my will, and then I did a psychiatry residency in New York City.
